Swim Lessons

 

Piedmont Pool will offer group beginning swim and safety instruction.

 

The class instructor will be Carol Watts, Piedmont Pool member since 1981, Carol is currently WSI certified, Lifeguard certified by American Red Cross.  Max 6 children in class with a volunteer swim team assistant. Without an assistant, class canceled. Parent must be present. Lifeguard for pool must be on duty.

 

HOW DO I REGISTER?  Sign up on opening day on a sign-up table located at the pool. Times and dates determined on demand and popular preference. Fees and releases must be signed and paid in full prior to the first class.

 

3 sessions: June 4-14, June 18-28, July 2-12, Each session has 6-8 classes dependent on weather and pool closings. 30 dollars per 2-week session per student, members only

 

Afternoons or evenings: Monday through Thursday: 30-minute classes:

 

1. Parent/Child swim classes: Class for babies 6 months and toddlers up to 4 years accompanied by a parent in the water. No experience necessary for the child. Parent must know how to swim and be in the water with their child. The child must wear a swim diaper.

 

This is a water introduction program to help parent and child see the pool as fun and pool safety is emphasized. Classes of 6 or less paired parent/child.

 

Games will introduce basic water skills as blowing bubbles, breath control, kicking and floating.

 

2. Over 4-year-olds first time swim lessons. Cannot swim without assistance. Small classes of 4. If volunteer swim assistant available. This will be an introduction to water skills, blowing bubbles breath control, floating, swim elements of alternating arm action, alternating arm action, kicking, combined water safety, entering and exiting the pool.

 

3. Over 4 year old. Prior swim lesson experience. , can blow bubbles, and little or no fear of floating. Small classes of 6. If volunteer swim assistant available. This will review water safety, advance skills in floating, swimming on front and back, treading water, bobs, jumps in the water, and pick up a submerged object.

 

4. Private lessons or semi-private lessons for children or adults, depending on needs, per half hour. $10 fee
