Swim Lessons

Piedmont Pool will offer group beginning swim and safety instruction for children age @ 5-8.

The first class is tentatively scheduled to start the week of June 5.  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday , 4-5 pm  for 2 weeks. The final schedule and dates will be adjusted and finalized depending on your interest.

Depending upon demand there may be two sessions during the summer. Only a limited number of swimmers can be in each session, so reply early to reserve a spot. Parent must be present during lesson.

The lessons will work on the following skills for the new swimmers:

  • Become comfortable with the water
  • Safely entering and exiting water
  • Comfortable with getting face in water
  • Glide on front
  • Float on back
  • Arm stroke
  • Leg kick
  • Swim short distance unassisted
  • Pool Safety

The class instructor will be Carol Watts, Piedmont Pool member since 1981, Carol is currently WSI certified, Lifeguard certified by American Red Cross.  Max 6 children in class with a volunteer swim team assistant. Without an assistant, class canceled. Parent must be present. Lifeguard for pool must be on duty.

There is a nominal fee of about $30 for eight,  40-minute sessions,  lessons are weather and pool schedule permitting. All fees will go directly to the pool. A waiver must be signed by parent or guardian.
